Hey all,
Does anyone know how to get gmail to work propperly on the mac in mail? I've set up the account, but it can't connect to recieve or send mail. Also, how do you delte mailboxes? If there's a way to get mail back to it's factory condition i may need to do that as i don't know if mail is working right on this machine.

Make sure you first look up all your gmail settings, and by that I mean all the screwy server settings they require you to set up.
This is so you can even use what's called a POP3 client. For step-by-step, probably Jessie or someone else on here can help you as I have not had occasion yet to use OS X / Leopard.
This is all irrelevant if you have already used gmail with Outlook Express or some other client on a Windows machine.

There is actually a help file on it on GMail's site. It works fine for me with Imap, and I set it up per their instructions.

Haven't set up gmail on my mac because I never use it, but have you enabled pop on the gmail account if that's what you want to do? It should just be a matter of filling in the server info.
With regards to mailbox deletion, I think that can be done from the preferences in the accounts tab, not sure if you have to delete the mailbox folder manually afterwards, but that's where the deletion thing is if I remember right.

i found the problem with connecting, for some reason the mac set itself to port 993 instead of 995. and it was supposed to do on it's own. as for deleting mailboxes, it is in the account settings, that's all taken care of now.
